Video: Dwight Howard Inducted into Magic Hall of Fame; Won 3 NBA DPOY Awards with Team

One of the greatest players in Orlando Magic history has been inducted into the Magic Hall of Fame.

Dwight Howard, who played in Orlando from 2004 to 2012, had his name enshrined into the Magic Hall of Fame on Monday.

"This is my home. It will always and forever be my home," Howard said. "You guys will always be my family. I love you guys forever. Thank you again for this moment, thank you for allowing me to be a part of Orlando Magic history and that No. 12."

The Magic drafted Howard first overall in 2004 and he quickly became one of the best defensive players in the NBA. He won the coveted Defensive Player of the Year award for three consecutive years from 2009 to 2011, leading the league in blocks in both 2009 and 2010. Howard also led the NBA in rebounds five times while playing for Orlando.

Howard, a four-time NBA All-Defensive First Team member, took the Magic to the playoffs six times in his tenure. In 2009, Howard and Orlando reached the NBA Finals for just the second time in franchise history, falling short to the Los Angeles Lakers. That is the most recent Finals appearance for the Magic.

Across eight seasons in Orlando, Howard averaged 18.4 points, 13 rebounds and 2.16 blocks per game.

While he and the Magic never achieved the ultimate goal of winning a title together, he remains one of the most accomplished players in the team's history.

After his tenure in Orlando, Howard joined the Los Angeles Lakers for one season before landing with the Houston Rockets from 2013 to 2016. Howard played for five different teams between 2017 and 2022, winning a title with the Lakers along the way. He's been out of the NBA since 2022, but briefly made a name for himself in the T1 league in Taiwan.
