Quentin Grimes Reportedly Gets 76ers Qualifying Offer, Will Be Restricted Free Agent

Andrew PetersJun 28, 2025

After an outstanding second half of the 2024-25 season, Quentin Grimes has received a qualifying offer from the Philadelphia 76ers.

Per The Athletic's Kelly Iko, the 76ers gave Grimes a one-year, $8.7 million tender, making him a restricted free agent this offseason. Iko added that "both sides continue to discuss a new deal."

As a restricted free agent, Grimes can negotiate and receive offers from other teams, but the 76ers will get the chance to match whatever offer he receives to bring him back to Philadelphia.

In his fourth NBA season, Grimes put up 14.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and three assists per game. After averaging 10.2 points while coming off the bench for the Dallas Mavericks, Grimes took a leap upon being traded to the 76ers.

On an injury-riddled Philadelphia team, Grimes put up 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 28 games, serving a much bigger role than that which he had in Dallas.

Though Grimes had the best stretch of his career with the 76ers, it wasn't enough to will the team into the playoffs.

Still, he did enough to become a favorite in Philadelphia, and the team has reportedly made it a "priority" to give him an extension.

Grimes spent the first two seasons of his career with the New York Knicks but has since been a bit of a journeyman. He was traded to the Detroit Pistons at the deadline in 2024 before being sent to the Mavericks last offseason.
