Kelly Oubre Jr. Exercises $8.4M 76ers Contract Option Ahead of NBA Free Agency
Philadelphia 76ers swingman Kelly Oubre Jr. will be staying put for at least one more year.
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Oubre exercised his $8.4 million player option to remain with the Sixers for the 2025-26 season. He's spent the last two seasons in Philadelphia after signing with the team prior to the 2023-24 campaign on a one-year contract and re-signing on a new two-year deal last July.
Oubre has been a steady source of production on the wing for the Sixers over the last two years. In 60 games this past season, he averaged 15.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals. He also had a solid year in 2023-24 with 15.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 steals across 68 games.

Acuff Declares for NBA Draft
An 11-year veteran, Oubre has been a serviceable role player throughout his career. The 2015 No. 15 pick began his career with the Washington Wizards and spent four years in the nation's capital before bouncing around the league.
Oubre spent two seasons with the Phoenix Suns before joining the Golden State Warriors for a year. He then signed with the Charlotte Hornets and spent two seasons with the team, producing a career-high 20.3 points per game in the 2022-23 season when he was limited to 48 games due to a hand injury that required surgery.
The Sixers experienced a massively disappointing 2024-25 season, finishing with a 24-58 record after entering the year with expectations to compete for a title. The star trio of Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey all incurred injuries at various points throughout the year, and the team was unable to maintain consistency in its lineups.
However, Oubre was one of the mainstays on the floor for Philadelphia, so the team likely will be glad that he exercised his option to stick around as the franchise tries to bounce back in 2025-26.
