Kevin Durant, Suns Ripped by NBA Fans as Luka Leads Lakers to Win with LeBron Out
Things aren't going well for the Phoenix Suns.
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated Phoenix on Sunday, 107-96, led by Luka Dončić (33 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists), who brought his tradition of skewering the Suns with him to Los Angeles.
Kevin Durant (21 points, nine rebounds) and Devin Booker (19 points, 11 assists) led the way for the Suns, while Bradley Beal played just 15 minutes and only scored four points after being ruled out for the remainder of the game due to left hamstring soreness.
The loss dropped the Suns to 31-37 on the season and 1.5 games behind the Dallas Mavericks for the final Play-In Tournament berth in the Western Conference. The Lakers moved to 41-25 on the year and remain fifth in the West.
But the story after the contest was the continued woes of the Suns, who are now just 6-15 since the beginning of February:
One of the most insulting parts of Sunday's loss for the Suns was the absence of LeBron James, who remains sidelined with a groin strain. That the Suns couldn't put up more of a fight against a LeBron-less Lakers team—one that came into Sunday on a four-game losing streak—isn't a great look.
These Suns have proven to be a remedy for more than a few struggling teams in the past six weeks. It's hard to find much to be positive about regarding Phoenix at this point.
