The Golden State Warriors defeated the New York Knicks 97-94 on Saturday night, led by Stephen Curry's 28 points.
In addition to Curry’s 28 points, he finished the night with seven rebounds and five assists while shooting 8-of-20 from the field in the victory. Draymond Green contributed nine points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block. Moses Moody added 18 points.
On the other side of the court, the Knicks held their own without Jalen Brunson, as Karl-Anthony Towns posted 29 points and 12 rebounds, along with 23 points from OG Anunoby.
With the Warriors' victory, they improved to 39-28, extending their winning streak to seven games as they continue to battle their way out of the play-in tournament, sitting in sixth place in the Western Conference.
Curry and Green’s combined 37 points excited fans as they extended their hot streak.
The first quarter opened with a dunk from Towns to ignite the Knicks, followed by two more baskets, giving him six straight points as New York's only scorer in the first three and a half minutes. The Warriors stayed in the fight, trading buckets throughout the quarter and capped it off with a 37-foot heave from Butler to take a 32-31 lead into the second.
The second quarter started sluggishly, with neither team scoring until Butler sank a pair of free throws at the 10:24 mark. The Warriors held the Knicks to just 19 points and ended the quarter similarly to the first, as Curry drilled a 28-foot three-pointer to send Golden State into halftime with a four-point lead.
Curry caught fire in the third quarter, scoring 12 points in just under 10 minutes of action. After he was subbed out at the 2:58 mark, the Warriors failed to make another basket, but they still held a 75-72 lead over the Knicks heading into the fourth.
Curry struggled from deep in the fourth, going 0-of-4, but Moody stepped up to help secure the win, scoring seven points in the quarter. Additionally, Draymond made a crucial layup to extend the lead to four points with 25 seconds left and three clutch free throws from Curry helped seal the game.
The Warriors will look to keep their streak alive as they host Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets on Monday.
