Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the San Francisco 49ers dealt Mason to the Vikings and that the running back had then signed a two-year, $7 million deal with the franchise.
Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network then reported that the 49ers received a 2026 sixth-round pick and a pick swap.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Mason spent three seasons with the 49ers after going undrafted in 2022 out of Georgia Tech.
Mason had a more prominent role in 2024 and was an impact player for the 49ers. He had 153 carries for 789 yards and three touchdowns in 12 games. He made six starts and had his season cut short due to a high ankle sprain.
He joins a Vikings team that went 14-3 in 2024 and saw a strong season from running back Aaron Jones. Jones will be back in Minnesota so Mason will slot in behind him as the reserve running back.
It also could change the Viking's draft strategy as Mason and Jones will form a solid tandem. The team can instead look to plug other holes in April and will know that the running back room is solidified.
