Ohtani, Judge, More MLB Award Winners to Wear Gold Logo Jersey Patch for 2025 Season
Major League Baseball will celebrate the individual award winners from the 2024 season with a special patch on their jerseys that will be worn during the 2025 campaign.
It was announced on Saturday that MLB, Topps and Fanatics have partnered up on a gold logo patch that will celebrate the six individual award winners from last season.

The six players who will wear the gold patch include Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers (NL MVP), Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees (AL MVP), Chris Sale of the Atlanta Braves (NL Cy Young), Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers (AL Cy Young), Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates (NL Rookie of the Year) and Luis Gil of the Yankees (AL Rookie of the Year).
In addition to being used in games by those six players, fans will have the opportunity to own a piece of history. Topps' announcement noted the patches will be featured in "unique autographed Logoman trading cards."
The patch is sewn on the back of the jersey, just above where the player's last name goes. Ohtani debuted the gold patch on Saturday for the Dodgers' exhibition game against the Yomiuri Giants at the Tokyo Dome.
Per The Athletic's Brooks Peck, this is the latest step in MLB's collaboration with Topps that began with the introduction of the MLB Debut Patch in 2023.
The debut patch is worn by players in their first big-league game. It is then removed from the jersey and used as part of a one-of-a-kind Topps card.
Those debut patch cards have been in the news recently because Skenes' one-of-one card is currently up for auction where early bidding reached $660,000, including the buyer's premium.
