NBA Rumors: 'Hornets Have No Interest in' LaMelo Ball Trade; Latest on Brandon Miller
The Charlotte Hornets are currently labeling guard LaMelo Ball as untouchable.
Tim Bontemps of ESPN reported that the Hornets have "no interest" in trading Ball. This comes despite the team being willing to move pretty much any other player, including 2023 No. 2 pick Brandon Miller.
"There may not be too many players on their roster they're not willing to discuss in deals this summer," one executive told Brian Windhorst of ESPN. "It may start with [2023 No. 2 pick] Brandon Miller and not go too far after that."
Charlotte is currently 16-49 and set to miss the playoffs for the ninth consecutive season. The Hornets notably tried to move center Mark Williams to the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline but the trade was rescinded.
Despite the team's struggles, Ball has been an impact player. He is averaging 25.5 points, 7.1 assists and 5.2 rebounds in 42 games. Miller is out for the season due to a wrist injury but had been averaging 21.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.6 assists.
A young core of Ball, Miller, Williams and whoever the team selects in the 2025 NBA draft could be promising, but adding a dynamic, proven player through a trade could be what the team needs more. Ball, Miller and an acquired star could help the Hornets finally break through.
