NBA Rumors: 'Everything is on the Table for' Suns Except Devin Booker Trade in Summer
The only certainty the Phoenix Suns have heading into 2025-26 might be Devin Booker staying on the roster.
According to ESPN's Tim MacMahon, "this summer, everything is on the table for Phoenix with the exception of a Devin Booker trade."
MacMahon's comment came at the 42:30 mark of Friday's episode of Brian Windhorst & the Hoop Collective.
According to MacMahon, Suns owner Mat Ishbia recently gave an emphatic "no" when asked if the franchise would consider trading Booker.
MacMahon wrote that Ishbia interrupted the question to answer: "Never happen. It's silly."
Ishbia continued, per MacMahon: "I have Devin Booker in the prime. In order to win an NBA championship, you got to have a superstar. You got to have a great player."
Outside of Booker, the rest of the Suns' personnel could potentially moved if the team misses the playoffs the spring.
MacMahon wrote Friday that a playoff miss will motivate the Suns to "explore all sorts of potential personnel scenarios... while operating under Ishbia's 'all-in' mandate."
"According to Ishbia, a 'pivot and reload' around Booker could be the direction the franchise chooses this summer," MacMahon wrote.
According to MacMahon, "the belief within the front office is that the Suns aren't as far away from contending as the standings indicate."
The Suns head into Friday ranked 11th in the Western Conference with a 30-36 record. The team currently sits 2.5 games back of the Dallas Mavericks for the final play-in spot in the West.
The core trio of Booker, Bradley Beal and Kevin Durant are currently all signed through next season in Phoenix despite the Suns reportedly seeking trades for both Beal and Durant at the 2025 trade deadline.
Trading either star this offseason would be complicated by Beal's no-trade clause, as well as Durant's expiring contract. In order to maximize Durant's value, the Suns may need to find a trade partner he would be willing to sign an extension with in order to retool around Booker this summer.
