Cooper Kupp, Diggs, Lockett Top Landing Spots After DeAndre Hopkins' Ravens Contract

Paul KasabianMar 11, 2025

A veteran wide receiver is off the free-agent market after DeAndre Hopkins agreed to a one-year, $5 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Other vet wideouts are (or will be) available for teams to pursue, including free agent Tyler Lockett, impending free agent Stefon Diggs and Cooper Kupp, who will reportedly be released if the Los Angeles Rams do not trade him by the start of the new league year on Wednesday.

Here's a look at a few potential landing spots for all three as the legal tampering period continues Tuesday, one day before free agents can officially sign with new teams.

Cooper Kupp

Seattle Seahawks

There's an obvious connection here, as this would mark a return to Kupp's home state. Kupp was born and raised in Washington and went to college at Eastern Washington.

Seattle also needs some wide receiver help after the release of Lockett and the trade of D.K. Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers. New quarterback Sam Darnold has a bona fide No. 1 in Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but he could use a solid No. 2. Kupp could fill that role.

Dallas Cowboys

Kupp's grandfather, Jake Kupp, played 12 seasons for the Dallas Cowboys (1964-1975). This would be an interesting spot if Kupp wants to follow his family's Cowboys legacy, as Dallas needs some wideout help. Brandin Cooks is a free agent, so the Cowboys need some help behind CeeDee Lamb.

Dallas certainly has the cap space to add Kupp, with the team holding $52.3 million on that front as of Tuesday evening, per Over the Cap. Ultimately, the Cowboys need to make serious improvements after a disappointing 7-10 season, and adding a steady veteran like Kupp would certainly help.

Tyler Lockett

Las Vegas Raiders

This certainly isn't the first time anyone has connected Lockett to the Raiders, simply because it's an obvious link. Las Vegas now has Seattle's old head coach in Pete Carroll and its ex-quarterback in Geno Smith, so why not bring another ex-Seahawk to the desert?

Lockett should easily slide into the mix as a top-three wideout alongside Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker. His past chemistry with Smith could go a long way as the Raiders look to jumpstart an offense that finished 29th in scoring last season.

Houston Texans

The Texans need some wide receiver help with potentially losing Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell recovering from a serious knee injury suffered against the Kansas City Chiefs last December. Nico Collins stands as the team's top wideout, but there's question marks about who could be No. 2.

Lockett seems like a good choice here. He's a steady veteran who could form a great partnership with a young star in C.J. Stroud, who needs more pass-catching help. Adding Lockett would give new offensive coordinator Nick Caley a solid weapon to work with as he transitions to his new role as well.

Stefon Diggs

Dallas Cowboys

As noted in the Cooper Kupp section, Dallas needs some more help at wide receiver, and it has cap room to do so. Adding a veteran wideout to help quarterback Dak Prescott could perhaps be beneficial toward leading this team back to a winning record.

He could also be a great fit in Dallas, with CeeDee Lamb serving as the team's top No. 1 wideout and explosive threat and Diggs catching a bunch of passes on shorter and intermediate routes while constantly moving the sticks.

Diggs' younger brother, Tre'Von Diggs, is also a starting cornerback for the Cowboys, so that could perhaps be an intriguing reason for him to head to Dallas.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots entered the offseason with the most cap space in the NFL at $125 million. They've been quite aggressive this offseason, but most of their resources have gone toward the defense, agreeing to terms with some notably names such as Milton Williams, Carlton Davis and Harold Landry.

The Pats have done work on offense, bringing in wide receiver Mack Hollins and offensive tackle Morgan Moses. But this team finished 30th in scoring, and no pass-catcher finished with more than 66 receptions or 674 yards. If Diggs recovers well from a season-ending torn ACL, he can be the No. 1 wideout this team needs for second-year quarterback Drake Maye.
