NFL Rumors: Aaron Rodgers, Steelers Could Agree to Contract Soon amid Giants Buzz
The Pittsburgh Steelers know wide receiver DK Metcalf will be catching passes for them next season after they traded for him Sunday, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
The next question to answer is who will be throwing those passes.
According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Aaron Rodgers could have a deal with the Steelers by Tuesday, although the New York Giants could still come back with a bigger offer.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported on the Pittsburgh quarterback situation ahead of free agency Monday, noting the AFC North team sees future the Hall of Famer as an option even though it remained in discussions with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson.
Fields eventually agreed a two-year contract with the New York Jets, taking him off the board for Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh has been one of the quarterback focal points of the early offseason since both Fields and Wilson were free agents after they both started games for the franchise last season.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Sunday that the Steelers were "leaning" toward retaining Fields over Wilson if they were going to bring back one of the two signal-callers. However, Fowler also added that Fields "wants to hear what other teams have to say" despite his "open dialogue" with Pittsburgh.
Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz previously reported the Jets were "high" on the 26-year-old, and they represent an opportunity for the Ohio State product to reunite with college teammate Garrett Wilson in the passing attack.
With Fields now with the Jets, they could end up switching quarterbacks with the Steelers this offseason.
The appeal of Rodgers is obvious. He is an all-time great who has a Super Bowl title, four league MVPs and 10 Pro Bowl selections on his resume. Putting him in charge of an offense that now features Metcalf and George Pickens could make the Steelers legitimate Super Bowl contenders in the AFC.
Still, the version of Rodgers with the Jets the past two seasons was different than the one with the Green Bay Packers who built that resume.
He suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in the 2023 opener and was then just 5-12 in 2024 as he and New York struggled with consistency. It is fair to question what he will look like moving forward at 41 years old, which means such a signing would be quite the gamble for Pittsburgh.
But it would also offer intriguing upside, especially with two game-changing wide receivers on the roster.
