Kevin Durant Calls Out Skip Bayless for Criticism: 'F--k It, We're Both Washed'
Kevin Durant fired back at Skip Bayless after the commentator claimed he looks "mentally semi-retired" at age 36 on the Skip Bayless Show.
"F--k it, We're both washed, it was a great run," Durant responded on X.
"Heโs participating in a documentary about his life and it just feels like heโs winding down his basketball career," Bayless continued.
He drew a parallel to the Suns' underwhelming season, as they sit at 30-34 and 11th in the Western Conference standings.
"Thatโs showing up in the Sunsโ win-loss record," Bayless said. "They started 8-1 this year, but since then, theyโve gone 20-31โthink about that. Theyโre four games behind the Play-In."ย
Bayless related Durant's current status to that of when he was the back-to-back Finals MVP with the Golden State Warriors.
โThe Phoenix Suns just look like theyโre done to me because Kevin looks like heโs on his last mental legs,โ Bayless said. โNot his last physical legs, just mental legs. Heโs not really into it the way he used to be into it when he went to Golden State.โ
Clearly, Durantโwho is averaging 26.9 points (sixth-best in the league), 6.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists while shooting 52.9 percent from the fieldโdid not take the comments lightly, firing back with a jab of his own.
Despite Bayless' claims, Durant is shooting 53 percent from the fieldโhis fourth-highest mark in his 17-year careerโwhile also hitting 40 percent from three and averaging 37 minutes per game.
