NFL Rumors: Joey Bosa to Receive 'Strong Interest' from Dolphins amid 49ers Links
Veteran edge-rusher Joey Bosa is "expected to garner strong interest" from the Miami Dolphins in free agency, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
She added that "the idea of playing with his brother Nick in San Francisco appeals to [him]," so a Niners' signing isn't out of the question just yet.
The Los Angeles Chargers released Bosa last week, saving $25.3 million in cap space. It ended a partnership dating back to 2016, when the team selected him No. 3 overall at the NFL draft, though the timing of the divorce made sense.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
The team signed Bosa to a five-year, $135 million contract extension in 2020, at the time the biggest contract for a defensive player in NFL history. But Bosa didn't exactly live up to that huge number, registering double-digit sacks in just one season since 2021 as injuries limited him to 28 games over the past three campaigns, with 13.5 sacks in that time.
And so the five-time Pro Bowler hit free agency, and rumors immediately began to circulate that the Bosa brothers could join forces in San Francisco, forming a familial pass rush for the Niners.
"It'd be cool at some point," Joey Bosa told reporters earlier in the offseason while discussing the possibility of playing with his younger brother. "I always thought of myself being somebody that will play [with the Chargers] and retire here, which I think not many people do on one team, and I think it would be a cool thing to accomplish, but you never know."
As for the Dolphins, the team already has a talented trio of pass-rushers in Jaelan Phillips,ย Bradley Chubbย andย Chop Robinson, but injuries have limited Phillips to just 12 games in the past two seasons and Chubb missed the entire 2024 campaign while recovering from a torn ACL. Adding Bosa would give them another talented but oft-injured option off the edge, and would seemingly provide them with the depth to deal with any future injury issues.
