Cowboys Rumors: Latest Micah Parsons Contract, Trade Buzz After Myles Garrett's Deal
Myles Garrett's record-breaking extension agreement with the Cleveland Browns on Sunday should affect negotiations for the Dallas Cowboys and star pass-rusher Micah Parsons.
According to Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz, there have been "murmurs" around the league regarding the Cowboys actually making Parsons the highest-paid player at his position or a trade becoming a "possibility" with the market rising to $40 million per year.
A trade still seems "far-fetched," per Schultz.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
ESPN analyst and former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum noted that delaying a potential extension from 2024 to 2025 will cost the Cowboys an extra $6 million per year if they want to make Parsons the highest-paid player at his position.
San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa previously held the highest average annual value at $34 million per year entering the 2024 season, via Spotrac.
Parsons appeared to react to Garrett's historic contract in a social media post.
The Browns and Garrett reached an agreement on an extension that features an average-annual value of $40 million as well as $123 million guaranteed on Sunday, via NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
ESPN's Adam Schefter revealed that Garrett is now the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
Parsons has established himself as one of the NFL's top pass-rushers, recording at least 12 sacks in all four seasons of his career. At 25 years old, there also shouldn't be any concerns regarding his age affecting his impact throughout the duration of a potential extension.
In Dec. 2024, Parsons said that he didn't need to be the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL.
“I don’t need $40 million per year," Parsons said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. "I need to be somewhere where I can have a lake house.”
Even if he isn't committed to surpassing Garrett's extension value, his contract demands could rise following the agreement between Cleveland and the former Defensive Player of the Year.
If Dallas isn't willing to meet Parsons' asking price, a trade is reportedly viewed as an option around the rest of the NFL.
