Jayson Tatum Applauded by NBA Fans as Celtics Rout 76ers Without Embiid, Maxey, George
The Boston Celtics clinched the season series over their division rival on Thursday with a 123-105 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
It was far from some of the battles we've seen between the Celtics and Sixers in the past as both teams were down a few stars. Philadelphia was already missing Joel Embiid, who is done for the season due to a lingering knee injury, but the 76ers also were without Tyrese Maxey and Paul George.
Philadelphia got a commendable effort from Kelly Oubre Jr., who had 27 points, but that was far from enough to take down one of the best teams in the East.
On Boston's side, the Celtics were missing Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porziņģis.
The lack of star power led to a big night from Jayson Tatum, who dropped 35 points and seven rebounds in the win. All of Tatum's points came in the third quarter as he was able to take the fourth quarter off thanks to the comfortable lead.
After the scoring outburst from Tatum, fans praised the Celtics star on social media.
The Celtics had a few midseason hiccups but have been on a roll as of late, winning 12 of their last 15 games. They'll look to keep the positive momentum going into the rest of the season and the playoffs.
The Sixers are falling further out of playoff contention each week, dropping to 21-41 on the year with Thursday's loss. Sitting in 12th place in the East, a postseason run seems a bit out of reach for Philadelphia at this point.
