Giants Rumors: Insiders See 'Aaron Rodgers or Bust' as QB Plan in NFL Free Agency
There's belief that the New York Giants don't have many quarterback options besides Aaron Rodgers in free agency, according to NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah.
“I don't know who the Giants are going to have at quarterback," Jeremiah said on the 40s and Free Agents podcast (33:00 mark). "And I've had this conversation with a bunch of different people, and everybody says the same thing. It feels like Aaron Rodgers or bust.”
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Feb. 28 that the Giants were "including" Rodgers in their search for a veteran quarterback during the offseason.
The 41-year-old spent the past two seasons with the New York Jets, but the team informed him that it was parting ways with him on Feb. 13.
Rodgers is coming off a disappointing 2024 campaign, finishing with a record of 5-12 as a starter. He completed 63 percent of his passes for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns to go along with 11 interceptions.
While Rodgers' MVP days are in the rearview mirror, he could serve as a short-term option for the Giants. New York owns the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft and might miss out on top quarterbacks such as Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders.
Even if the Giants are able to select a signal-caller early in the draft, that may not change their desire to add Rodgers.
"Even if you get a young quarterback, you'd like to have a vet in the room with him to show him the ropes and how to be a pro," Giants general manager Joe Schoen said at the NFL scouting combine, per ESPN's Jordan Raanan.
As New York searches for a starting quarterback in 2025, it may have its sights set on Rodgers over other passers.
