De'Aaron Fox Says He Needs Surgery While Reflecting on Spurs Trade Before Kings Return
De'Aaron Fox told Mike Monroe of The Athletic on Thursday that he would eventually require surgery on the dislocated pinky finger on his left hand.
"Oh, obviously, for me and Brian (general manager Brian Wright), we've talked about the surgery thing," he said. "At some point, I'm going to have to get it, but we'll see where we are before that comes."
Fox also spoke on being traded to the San Antonio Spurs this season after eight years in Sacramento with the Kings.

"First thing I thought was, 'Wow, I'm going to be playing for a different team,'" he said. "I'd been in one place almost for a decade, so that was the first thing that was weird to me. Then, it was, 'Oh, no, I've got to move halfway across the country.' But then, outside of that, I was just excited to be able to be in this position. Obviously, a lot of these (Spurs) are young, but I think they're very talented, so it was definitely exciting."
While Victor Wembanyama's season-ending diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder put a damper on the 2024-25 season, likely stalling out San Antonio's playoff hopes in the process, the future appears to be bright for these Spurs. Fox's addition is certainly a big reason for that optimism.
