Matthew Stafford 'Excited' About Rams Contract; Dodges Talk of Raiders, Giants Rumors
After restructuring his contract to stay with the Los Angeles Rams, veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford is looking forward to continuing his tenure with the franchise he led to a Super Bowl title in 2021.
"I’m excited to be back," Stafford told Gary Klein of the L.A. Times.
Prior to the contract adjustment, Stafford received permission to gauge his value on the trade market and received interest from teams like the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants. Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer even reported that Stafford is "taking less than" what he would've received from the Raiders or Giants to stay with the Rams.

However, Klein noted that the 37-year-old "declined to answer questions about the specifics" of the Raiders' and Giants' interest in him over the past two months.
The reworked deal helped the two sides avoid another impasse, as Stafford also expressed displeasure with his contract last offseason and stayed away from the team until his contract was adjusted just hours before players reported for the first day of training camp.
The terms of this year's contract adjustment have not yet been made public. Rams general manager Les Snead described the resolution as "a renewal of vows" during a video teleconference with reporters on Wednesday, which amused Stafford.
"Les is a man of interesting words," Stafford said. "I love Les. Whatever he wants to say he can say. I just know I’m excited to be back."
