Schefter: Aaron Rodgers-Giants Isn't a Lock; Don't See Colts, Browns, Titans, Raiders
There is reportedly plenty of uncertainty surrounding Aaron Rodgers' future at this stage of the offseason.
ESPN's Adam Schefter appeared on Thursday's episode of Get Up and noted Matthew Stafford returning to the Los Angeles Rams means Rodgers' "best option" is gone. What's more, Schefter explained the veteran going to the New York Giants is not a surefire conclusion.
"Listen, his best option dried up when Matthew Stafford went back to the Rams," Schefter said. "That was the worst case scenario for him, because that would have been a tailor made perfect situation in LA where he's got a home playing for Sean McVay for a team that's ready to win out. It didn't happen.

"So where are we now with Aaron Rodgers? And the one spot would be the New York Giants, but the New York Giants, I think are probably looking at Russell Wilson, Sam Darnold, other options. So the Giants are not a lock for Aaron Roders. They're in play, but they're not a lock.
"So if it's not New York, where is it? I don't see Aaron Rodgers in Indianapolis or Cleveland or Tennessee. I don't know that I see him in Las Vegas. And there are not an abundance of options. Aaron Rodgers' best option may just be to wait and see if there's a quarterback injury, a quarterback issue, a quarterback situation that we don't see today on March 6th that could materialize on March 16th or April 16th."
The New York Jets announced last month they are parting ways with the future Hall of Famer after two tumultuous seasons.
There was a time when Rodgers becoming a free agent would have been the biggest story of the offseason given his status as an all-time great, but he is 41 years old and largely disappointed in New York. He suffered an Achilles injury in the season opener in 2023 that sidelined him for the rest of the year and then went 5-12 as a starter in 2024.
Rodgers was 31st in the league in QBR last season, per Pro Football Reference, and wasn't nearly the same version of himself that was so dominant for so long on the Green Bay Packers.
The Giants, Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans and Las Vegas Raiders all have long-term uncertainty at the quarterback position.
However, Rodgers would be nothing more than a temporary one- or two-year bandaid, and even then he isn't guaranteed to elevate any of their ceilings to legitimate contender status.
With the draft looming and other veteran options such as Wilson, Darnold and Kirk Cousins potentially available, it seems like teams around the NFL are not in a hurry to add Rodgers.
