NFL Draft Insider: Scouts Aren't 'Fazed' by DT Mason Graham's 24-Pound Weight Loss
Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham raised some eyebrows at the NFL Scouting Combine this past weekend when he weighed in 24 pounds under his listed playing weight.
However, ESPN's Jordan Reid reported that NFL teams aren't particularly concerned with Graham potentially being undersized, as his skills still make him one of the top prospects in the 2025 draft.
"Graham surprisingly weighed 296 pounds at the combine after being listed at 320 at Michigan, but the scouts I talked to weren't fazed," Reid stated. "His hand speed and ability to deconstruct blocks are among the best in a deep defensive line class, and his 19 pressures were tied for 21st in the FBS among defensive tackles."
Graham was named a unanimous All-American in 2024 after producing 46 total tackles and 3.5 sacks for the Wolverines. He excelled as a run defender and is expected to make an immediate impact at the next level.
Reid predicted in his mock draft that Graham would be selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the No. 5 pick.
"Graham gives Jacksonville a building block who can immediately improve one of the league's worst defenses. The Jaguars were 31st in yards allowed per play (5.9) and last in turnovers forced (nine)," Reid explained. "... Adding Graham alongside edge rushers Josh Hines-Allen and Travon Walker would give Jacksonville an intimidating defensive front."
