Kerr: 'Phenomenal' Jimmy Butler is 'Perfect' with Steph Curry, Draymond on Warriors

The Golden State Warriors have been thrilled with what Jimmy Butler has brought to their team since acquiring him from the Miami Heat on Feb. 6.

Speaking to reporters after the Warriors' 119-101 over the Charlotte Hornets on Monday, head coach Steve Kerr praised Butler as a "phenomenal" player and called him a "perfect" fit with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

It's not just Kerr who has been happy with Butler's presence. Green said after the game the Butler-Curry pairing is working well so quickly because their styles of play make it easy to establish chemistry.

The Warriors are 8-2 overall since acquiring Butler (8-1 in games he has played). Even more encouraging is they've won three straight games Butler has played, even though he's not been performing well on offense.

In his last three games, Butler has scored a total of 24 points on 7-of-22 shooting (31.8 percent). He is still able to impact winning because of his ability as a passer and defender. The six-time All-Star has 16 assists in his last three starts.

Butler is averaging 16.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game in nine starts with the Warriors. He's the only player on the team averaging at least 10 points, five rebounds and five assists per contest.

Curry seems to be enjoying playing next to Butler. He dropped a season-high 56 points on 16-of-25 shooting (12-of-19 from three-point range) in Thursday's 121-115 win over the Orlando Magic.

Monday's win over the Hornets moved Golden State into sole possession of sixth place in the Western Conference. If the Warriors can stay there, they would be able to avoid the play-in tournament.

The Warriors have a marquee game on Tuesday against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. It will be interesting to see how many of his starters Kerr uses on the second night of a back to back and fourth game of their Eastern Conference road trip that will wrap up on Thursday against the Brooklyn Nets.
