Deebo Samuel: 'No Bad Blood' with 49ers' Lynch, Shanahan After Commanders Trade
Deebo Samuel's time with the San Francisco 49ers is over after the team traded him to the Washington Commanders, but the wide receiver has no bitterness towards his former squad.
He expressed his appreciation for his time spent in San Francisco and said he still has love for general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan.
"49ers know where I stand with them and it’s nothing but love," he wrote on social media. "Love John and Kyle to death no bad blood no way shape or form. They know I’m more than appreciative of everything they done for me as a player and a man nothing but love."

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Samuel had a successful tenure in San Francisco, helping the team reach a pair of Super Bowls and earning an All-Pro nod in 2021 when he recorded 1,405 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
The 2024 season didn't go the way both Samuel and the Niners hoped as he had just 670 yards and three touchdowns as San Francisco went 6-11. After the season, the 49ers gave him permission to find a trade suitor.
After being granted permission to seek a potential trade, Samuel expressed that it wasn't an easy decision to potentially leave the team he had been with his entire career.
"It was a hard conversation to have with Kyle because of the relationship that we have," Samuel told ESPN's Adam Schefter in February. "But I have to do what's best. I'm more than thankful for the Niners giving me the opportunity of a lifetime but now I think it's best that we find another team."
Ultimately, the trade could work out best for both sides. Washington is taking on the rest of Samuel's contract and will pay all of his $17.55 million salary for 2025, giving San Francisco more financial flexibility as it looks to turn things around.
Samuel will get a fresh start with one of the best up-and-coming teams in the NFL and will play with a star in the making in quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Commanders went 12-5 in 2024, making a surprise run to the NFC Championship game.
With Samuel in the mix alongside star receiver Terry McLaurin, Washington could be on its way to another great year.
