2025 NFL Scouting Combine: Top Draft Takeaways from OL On-Field Workouts

Kristopher KnoxMar 2, 2025

The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine will officially wrap on Monday, but Sunday brought the final on-field drills and workouts. Offensive linemen were on deck for the weekend's final day, and a few managed to generate some serious pre-draft buzz.

Watching a blocker showcase his footwork or short-area burst might not excite casual fans as much as, say, seeing Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston run a combine-best 4.28-second 40-yard dash—which Hairston did on Friday. However, teams are always chasing top-tier linemen in the draft.

Eight offensive linemen were selected in the first round last April. While this year's linemen class may not be as top-heavy—only four of the top 32 prospects on the B/R Scouting Department's latest big board were linemen—it does feature some future NFL starters.

Brandon Thorn of the Bleacher Report Scouting Department tracked all of Sunday's action in Indianapolis and broke down the most noteworthy performances from this year's OL group.

Offensive Tackles

1 of 3
2025 NFL Scouting Combine
Texas OT Kelvin Banks Jr.

Kelvin Banks Jr., Texas

Banks put together a very strong workout with solid testing numbers and excellent field work showcasing smooth redirect skills. He was quick to close space during the wave and mirror drills and sudden when pulling, leading and redirecting at the second level. Banks is another player who confirmed above-average athletic ability on film with his workout.

Conerly posted the best 10-yard split at 1.71 and third-best vertical at 34.5" with twitched-up movements throughout field work to confirm the high-end athletic ability seen on his film. Conerly redirected on a dime during wave and mirror drills and closed ground in a flash when pulling and leading around the edge.

His biggest questions in terms of play strength and anchoring ability remain but he solidified the movement skills needed to stay at tackle in Indy.

Aireontae Ersery, Minnesota

Ersery had a mixed day on the field. His testing numbers showcased very good linear explosiveness with a 9'3" broad jump and 1.75 10-yard split at 331 pounds with below average agilities (4.82 short shuttle/7.81 3-cone) that were reflected during the fieldwork. Ersery had a solid wave drill followed by clunky, delayed redirect skills in most of the other drills that exposed his high-cut frame and middling lateral quickness.

Armand Membou, Missouri

After missing the Senior Bowl due to an illness, Membou showed up in Indy eager to solidify the considerable hype around him as potentially the top tackle prospect in the class and didn't disappoint.

Membou skipped agilities but posted the second-best 40-yard dash at 4.91 with elite-level jumps. His change of direction was closer to solid than great on the field, but his burst and speed matched up with his runs and jumps.

Jalen Travis, Iowa State

Travis skipped agilities but put together a solid enough on-field workout to quiet some concerns about his high-cut frame and upright playing style. However, it was his staggering blend of size and linear explosiveness during his jumps that left the biggest impression. At 6'8" and 339 pounds, Travis posted the fourth-best broad jump at 9'4" (same as Jared Wilson who weighed in 29 pounds lighter) with the second-best vertical jump at 35 inches.

Travis has a little bit of a robotic style on the field that saps his recovery skills but his size, play strength and explosiveness should give him a chance of being drafted on day two.

Interior Offensive Linemen

2025 NFL Scouting Combine
Alabama IOL Tyler Booker

Will Campbell put together an excellent day of testing with a 9'5" broad jump (tied for second best with Tate Ratledge) as well as the fifth-fastest 40-yard dash at 4.98.

He began the drills with a fall during the wave drill before slipping again but followed that up with smooth footwork and movement skills in all other drills. Campbell's athletic ability on film matched up with what he showed here to solidify his evaluation as my top-graded lineman in the class.

Tyler Booker, Alabama

Booker had excellent measurements at nearly 6'5" and 321 pounds with 34 ½-inch arms and 11-inch hands before having a subpar day of testing with the lowest broad jump (7'10") and second lowest 40-yard dash (5.38).

While his numbers weren't good, he was silky smooth during the drills, executing each one with calm, collected footwork and decisive movement patterns. Booker's lean build and evenly dispersed weight were also extremely impressive up close. Overall, Booker balanced out disappointing workout numbers with impressive functional movement and ideal size to solidify the second-round grade that I had on him entering the week.

Emery Jones skipped the timed measurements but was fluid throughout the drills during the field workouts showing good quickness and fluidity. Jones' concerns on film weren't rooted in athletic ability, but rather routine lapses in technique that led to him falling off of too many blocks, so while looking good on the field, his questions moving forward remain the same as they were entering the week.

Jonah Savaiinaea, Arizona

Savaiinaea had an excellent overall day beginning with how impressively he carried 324 pounds, showing off a lean, rocked-up frame with nearly 34-inch arms. He moved with explosiveness and fluidity during the field drills while posting an impressive 9.91 RAS score to bolster his draft stock as a future starter at guard.

Tate Ratledge, Georgia

Tate Ratledge would get my vote for having the best overall workout of the day thanks to finishing with the best 3-cone (7.38), tied with Will Campbell for the second-best broad jump (9'5"), and in a four-way tie for the second-best 10-yard split at 1.72. Ratledge was smooth during the on-field portions without any major blips.

After an injury-plagued year that sapped some of his movement skills on film after injuring his ankle, Ratledge proved that he is a good athlete when healthy, which is significant considering his play strength was his top trait on film.

Jared Wilson, Georgia

Wilson ran the fastest overall 40-yard dash at 4.84, a solid 4.56 shuttle and very good broad jump at 9'4" to go along with showing off excellent burst, balance and speed during the on-field drills. Wilson was expected to showcase high-end athletic ability this week and didn't disappoint.

The combine doesn't mark the end of the pre-draft process. Pro days and individual team workouts will unfold in the coming weeks, and the draft picture will continue to evolve between now and the start of the draft on Thursday, April 24.

However, many NFL hopefuls impacted their draft stock over the past few days. Previous takeaways from the B/R Scouting Department can be found below:

The next Bleacher Report Scouting Department mock draft is scheduled to be released on March 4, while its next big board is scheduled for March 6. The Scouting Department's post-Super Bowl mock draft can be found here, while its post-Senior Bowl rankings are available here.
