It is fair to say the football tournament at the Pacific Games did not go to plan for Micronesia.Ā
The team started the tournament in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, with a 30-0 defeat toĀ Tahiti and things only got worse from there.Ā
Next came a 38-0 defeat to Fiji and then, on Tuesday, their tournament concluded with a 46-0 loss toĀ Vanuatu.
The one saving grace forĀ Micronesia is the fact they won't enter the record books.Ā
As noted by the BBC:Ā
"Micronesia will escape their place in the record books as they are not affiliated to world football's governing body Fifa, and the squads at the Pacific Games are Under-23s because it doubles as Olympic qualifying.
The official world record remains Australia's 31-0 win over American Samoa in a World Cup qualifier back in 2001.
"
Harry Redknapp appeared to make fun of the team on Twitter.Ā
