Isaiah Bond Says He Intends to Break Xavier Worthy's NFL Combine 40-Yard Dash Record
University of Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond is aiming to make history at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday.
While speaking to reporters Friday about running the 40-yard dash, Bond said, "I'm going to break the record tomorrow, for sure. I anticipate running a 4.20 or possibly, if I'm feeling great, I might run 4.1."

Bond also told reporters that he has run the 40 in 4.23 seconds before.
Last year, then-University of Texas wideout Xavier Worthy broke the combine 40-yard dash record by running it in 4.21 seconds, which beat out the previous mark set by John Ross by one one-hundredth of a second.
After breaking the record, Worthy was selected 28th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft, and he went on to enjoy a strong rookie season.
Worthy finished with 638 yards and six touchdowns on 59 receptions, while rushing for 104 yards and three scores as well. He was also one of the Chiefs' lone bright spots in their Super Bowl LIX loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, recording eight catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns.
Bond doesn't seem to be in the first-round mix right now, but he could conceivably help his stock quite a bit by breaking Worthy's 40-yard dash record.
The 20-year-old Bond began his collegiate career at Alabama, spending two seasons with the Crimson Tide. He broke out in 2023 with 48 receptions for 668 yards and four touchdowns.
Bond transferred to Texas for the 2024 campaign, but he didn't experience the bump in production many expected.
His 34 catches for 540 yards were both downgrades, although Bond did have a career-high five touchdown receptions and averaged a career-best 15.9 yards per reception.
He also used his speed effectively on running plays, rushing four times for 98 yards and a touchdown.
On its latest big board released earlier this month, the BR NFL Scouting Department ranked Bond as the No. 9 wide receiver and No. 61 overall player in the draft, putting him in the second-round discussion.
NFL teams are always looking for game-breaking speed, and Bond possesses it regardless of what his 40-yard dash number ends up being.
Because of that, it won't be too surprising if Bond ends up going higher in the draft than many prognosticators are projecting.
