Report: Will Johnson Skipping NFL Combine Drills; Will Participate in Michigan Pro Day
Michigan cornerback Will Johnson is skipping the workout portion of the NFL Scouting Combine, according to ESPN's Jordan Reid.
Johnson will instead focus his efforts on Michigan's pro day on March 21. He's the No. 6 overall player on Bleacher Report's 2025 big board.
The 6'2" defensive back had a disappointing junior season, appearing in just six games. He suffered a shoulder injury in the Wolverines' 27-24 win over USC in September and then missed their final six games because of turf toe.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Still, Johnson managed to record a pair of pick-sixes, which tied for the most in the FBS.
B/R NFL scout Cory Giddings compared the 2024 second-team All-Big Ten honoree to Philadelphia Eagles cornerback James Bradberry.
"Will Johnson projects as one of the top cornerbacks in this year's draft, with the potential to be an impact player early in his NFL career," Giddings wrote. "His combination of size, length, physicality and versatility in coverage make him a valuable asset for any defensive scheme. While he will need to refine his change of direction and reduce his tendency to gamble in coverage, Johnson's ability to disrupt plays both in the air and on the ground gives him a high ceiling. With proper coaching and development, Johnson can potentially become a top-tier defensive back in the NFL."
Declining to participate in drills and workouts probably won't impact Johnson's draft stock at all. Scouts and talent evaluators are already well aware of what he can do, and participating in Michigan's pro day will alleviate any concerns that would stem from his shoulder and toe injuries.
The only loser is the combine since Johnson is one of multiple marquee prospects who's not working out.
