Luka Doncic Jokingly Told Mark Cuban to 'Shut Up' for Booing Him During Lakers' Win
Longtime Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban got a taste of what it's like to root against star guard Luka Dončić, who faced his old squad on Tuesday for the first time since being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Fortunately for Cuban, he didn't incur Dončić's wrath, as ESPN's Ramona Shelburne detailed a playful interaction between the two of them during the game.
"Each time Dončić touched the ball, Cuban made a show of booing him," Shelburne stated. "At one point, Dončić turned to Cuban, smiled and said, 'Shut up, Mark.'"
Dončić produced 19 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists for his first triple-double with his new team as the Lakers went on to earn a 107-99 victory. He admitted after the game that he was relieved to get past such an emotional game.
"It was just a lot of emotions and not much sleep," he said. "I can't even explain [it]. It was a different game. … Sometimes I don't know what I was doing. And I'm just glad it's over, honestly."
As for Cuban, who no longer owns controlling interest in the Mavs and wasn't involved in the decision to trade Dončić, it wasn't easy being on the opposing side of the 25-year-old. When asked after Tuesday's game about what it was like to root against Dončić, Cuban responded, "I hated it."
