Elite 11 2015: Results, Rankings, Highlights and Reaction from Monday

Matt FitzgeraldJul 6, 2015

The 2015 Elite 11 football camp offers a glimpse of the most talented quarterbacks of tomorrow, as many of the nation's top high school signal-callers descend on Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon.

Monday marked the beginning of The Opening Finals, where the field generals got the chance to strut their stuff in front of camp host Trent Dilfer and numerous others in attendance.

Marquee college QBs such as Penn State's Christian Hackenberg and Notre Dame's Malik Zaire serve as counselors and even fling the pigskin around themselves. Fighting Irish head coach Brian Kelly heard Zaire did well in his mentoring role:

But the focus was on the prolific prep passers as they sought to distinguish themselves against the best competition available in the country.

One young man who stood out among the bunch was Georgia commit Jacob Eason. The 5-star Georgia commit is the No. 1 pro-style passer by 247Sports' composite rankings, and he lived up to that billing on Monday.

ESPN.com's Jeremy Crabtree made quite a gaudy comparison for Eason, which seemed suitable given how much zip he was getting on the ball:

A couple of other supreme athletes who also sport exceptional arm talent were Malik Henry—247Sports' No. 3 pro-style passer—and Jarrett Guarantano, who plan to play college ball at Florida State and Tennessee, respectively.

Although these drills were against air, the combination of touch and power Guarantano showed on the following throw hints at the upside he has, courtesy of ESPN's Tom VanHaaren:

Bleacher Report's Damon Sayles tweeted footage of Henry ripping a ball down the left sideline to display his own exceptional ability:

Another amazing arm who wowed those bearing witness was Shea Patterson, whom some believe to be the country's best ahead of Eason. Slated to attend Ole Miss, Patterson had to have Rebels fans feeling good about his impending arrival.

Scout Recruiting provided a glimpse at just how quick Patterson's release is—and how much velocity he can generate:

Elite 11's official Twitter account assembled a highlights package of various impressive throws from throughout the day:

With so many of the top-tier players to keep track of, Bleacher Report's Michael Felder provided a glimpse into the camp participants who stood out to him but may be a bit under the radar at the moment:

This Elite 11 camp has turned out future NFL No. 1 overall picks such as Matthew Stafford, Andrew Luck and Jameis Winston to name some recent success stories. Numerous others have gone on to have great college careers, so the final rankings from Elite 11 will definitely be worth paying attention to.

It will be hard to distinguish which players are better than the rest from just on-field drills. Camps like these show the importance of the QB position and also suggest the best recruits will be even more prepared to make an instant splash in the NCAA upon setting foot on campus.

There is still one more day remaining for the Elite 11 prospects. Now that the foundation has been set, they'll be tasked with going out and executing the installed offensive game plans to show what they really have at this point in their young, promising careers.
