Video: Mark Cuban Greets Luka Doncic's Father, Agent During Mavs vs. Lakers Game

Longtime Dallas Mavericks principal owner and current minority owner Mark Cuban was seen greeting two people very close to former Mavs superstar Luka Dončić during Tuesday's game between the Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers in L.A.

Ben Golliver of the Washington Post posted a video on X showing Cuban shaking hands with Dončić's father, as well as his agent Bill Duffy during a timeout:

Tuesday marked the first time Dončić faced the Mavs since the organization shockingly traded him to the Lakers earlier this month.

Dončić, who will turn 26 on Friday, spent parts of his first seven NBA seasons in Dallas prior to the trade.

In his 422 career regular-season games with the Mavs, Dončić averaged 28.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists per contest. The five-time All-Star also won the NBA scoring title, finished third in NBA MVP voting and led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals last season.

Cuban, who purchased a controlling stake in the Mavericks in 2000, was the organization's principal owner in 2018 when the Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks pulled off a draft-night trade involving Dončić and Trae Young.

The decision to take Dončić paid instant dividends for the Mavs, as he was NBA Rookie of the Year in 2018-19 and rattled off five consecutive All-Star selections after that.

While Cuban still has an ownership stake in the Mavs, he sold his majority stake to Miriam Adelson and Patrick Dumont in 2023.

The decision to trade Dončić to the Lakers for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick was likely an organization move made with input from ownership, general manager Nico Harrison and head coach Jason Kidd, but it is fair to wonder if things would have went down differently had Cuban still been majority owner.

While Dončić is seemingly still working past the blindsided nature of the trade, he was in fine form Tuesday night, as he recorded a 19-point, 15-rebound, 12-assist triple-double in a 107-99 Lakers win over Dallas.

Dončić told reporters after the game he is "glad it's over" in reference to his first game against the Mavs, but there is an even bigger one on the horizon, as the Lakers will go on the road to face the Mavericks on April 9 in Dončić's first game in Dallas as a visiting player.
