Report: Tyler Warren Won't Work Out at 2025 NFL Combine; B/R's No. 2 TE on Big Board

Adam WellsFeb 26, 2025

Tyler Warren is the latest top prospect in the 2025 NFL draft who has opted out of participating in on-field drills at the scouting combine.

Per Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz, the Penn State Star won't work out in Indianapolis this week but he participate in interviews with teams.

Warren is the No. 2 tight end and 20th-ranked prospect overall in the 2025 class, per B/R's NFL scouting department.

Warren joins a group that includes Shedeur Sanders and Ashton Jeanty who opted out of participating in on-field drills this week. Both Sanders and Jeanty, like Warren, intend to speak with teams in Indianapolis.

It's becoming more common for players whose status as a first-round-caliber prospect is largely set to opt out of combine workouts. They tend to take part in their school's pro days when they have more familiarity with the setting and other players to better showcase their talents.

Warren doesn't seem likely to suffer by not working out this weekend. B/R's NFL scouting department projected the 22-year-old to be selected by the Denver Broncos at No. 20 overall in a mock draft posted on Feb. 10.

"Warren is like pushing the 'easy button' for his quarterback, with his ability to control the middle of the field in the short and intermediate areas," B/R's Dame Parson wrote in the mock. "Warren's ball skills and tracking will be welcomed as another big target in the red zone to pair with Courtland Sutton."

Tight end is a huge area of need for the Broncos. Adam Trautman was their most productive player at the position last season with 13 receptions, 188 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games.

If Warren does go in the first round, it will mark the third consecutive year a tight end has been selected on Day 1 of the draft. Dalton Kincaid went to the Buffalo Bills with the 25th pick in 2023 and Brock Bowers was selected No. 13 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders last year.

The last time tight ends went in the first round in three consecutive years was from 2017 to 2019.

Warren won the 2024 John Mackey Award as the nation's best tight end. He finished with 104 receptions (tied for second in FBS), 1,233 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 16 games.
