Report: Quinn Ewers Played Through Torn Oblique Injury During 2024 Season at Texas
Quinn Ewers led the Texas Longhorns to the SEC Championship Game and College Football Playoff semifinal during the 2024 season, and he reportedly did so with a torn oblique.
On Tuesday, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Ewers will throw at the NFL Scouting Combine and revealed the injury diagnosis that started with Texas' second game of the season in September.
"I'm told that he is fully recovered now from a torn oblique that he played with basically this entire season," Pelissero said. "It happened in the Michigan game and got worse."

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
It was known that Ewers dealt with an injury at times in 2024, as Arch Manning started two games in relief during the season.
Austin Curtright of USA Today noted that outsiders believed Ewers' injury was a strained oblique he suffered in a Week 3 game against UTSA after he led the Longhorns to a victory over the Wolverines in Week 2.
Ewers did not finish that win over UTSA and was replaced by Manning, who then started the next two games against UL Monroe and Mississippi State. Ewers then returned after that two-game stretch and led Texas to a win over rival Oklahoma before remaining under center the rest of the season.
Despite the injury, he managed to complete 65.8 percent of his passes for 3,472 yards, 31 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Texas' only losses ahead of the CFP came against Georgia during the regular season and in the conference title game, and it advanced to the semifinals with playoff wins over Clemson and Arizona State.
However, the Longhorns' national title hopes were dashed when they lost to Ohio State in the semifinals at the Cotton Bowl.
Ewers now being fully healthy means he will have the opportunity to play his way up draft boards at the combine and his eventual pro day.
B/R's NFL Scouting Department ranked him as the seventh-best quarterback in the draft on its latest big board earlier this month. Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are considered the top-two signal-callers, but Ewers could make a positive impression when it comes to the secondary group that also includes Will Howard, Jaxson Dart and Jalen Milroe.
Making such an impression will be easier now that he is healthy.
