Lions GM: 'Probably' Can't Add Star Pass-Rusher amid Myles Garrett Trade Rumors
The Detroit Lions were believed to be a potential landing spot for disgruntled Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett following his trade request, but it doesn't sound like it's meant to be.
While speaking to reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday, Lions general manager Brad Holmes was asked about the possibility of acquiring another star pass-rusher this offseason and responded, "Probably not."
Detroit acquired defensive end Za'Darius Smith from Cleveland ahead of the 2024 trade deadline, which helped the team overcome significant injuries to its defensive line. Star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson was lost for the season after just five games due to a fractured leg, but he's expected to recover in time for the 2025 campaign.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Lions finished the year in disappointing fashion by losing to the Washington Commanders in the NFC Divisional Round after earning the conference's No. 1 seed. Detroit's biggest losses this offseason so far have come on the coaching staff, as offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn both left to accept head coaching roles with the Chicago Bears and New York Jets, respectively.
It's expected that the Lions will retain the majority of their core as they gear up to make another run to the playoffs next season, so Garrett doesn't seem to be a factor in their plans.
