Knicks' Josh Hart Fined by NBA for Flopping After Viral Video vs. Celtics
The NBA announced Monday that it has fined New York Knicks guard Josh Hart $2,000 for his flop against the Boston Celtics on Sunday.
The incident came in the third quarter, with the Celtics up 20, and was fairly egregious on the part of Hart:
The Celtics ultimately won the game, 118-105, and Hart had his own reaction to the fine:
Hart, 29, had an otherwise strong showing in the contest, nearly posting a triple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. For the season he's averaging 14.8 points, 9.7 rebounds and 5.8 assists across 54 games, shooting 55.6 percent from the field and 33.7 percent from three.
While the Knicks are having a strong season at 37-20, the team has struggled against the league's best teams, going a combined 0-7 against the Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder. That's been a bit of a surprise, given the offseason additions of Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges.
"It's tough," Knicks guard Josh Hart told reporters after Sunday's game about what makes the Celtics such a difficult matchup for the Knicks. "They've got three-level scorers at every single position. They got the length defensively to make us get into tough shots offensively."
"They're a heck of a team, well-coached team, disciplined team," he added, "but we gotta step it up."
