NFL Rumors: Rams to Meet with Matthew Stafford's Agent at Combine amid Trade Buzz
The Matthew Stafford situation is hovering over the Los Angeles Rams' offseason, and it will reportedly be front and center when members of the team are in Indianapolis for this week's NFL Scouting Combine.
Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reported Monday that some Rams executives will meet with the quarterback's agent, Jimmy Sexton, and discuss Stafford's situation.
Sexton and the team have been in contact this offseason, as NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported during a Friday appearance on The Rich Eisen Show (1:44 mark) that Los Angeles gave the agent permission to discuss a potential trade with other teams.

Yet Pelissero noted bringing Stafford back is still the "priority" and such discussions with others around the league would give a better idea of the signal-caller's overall value.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported something similar, explaining "this is not a trade request" and instead a way to fully understand the entire situation before moving forward with a new contract or trade.
According to Over The Cap, Stafford will make a base salary of $23 million in 2025 on his current deal.
However, he will count for a $49.6 million cap hit because of previously deferred money. His average annual value of $40 million ranks 15th among current quarterbacks, and he reportedly wants more.
During a Monday appearance on Good Morning Football, NFL Network's Peter Schrager reported, "This is a money issue, and Matthew Stafford wants to be paid what he thinks he's worth. He wants to be paid more than $50 million."
Perhaps there will be a trade if the two sides can't come to terms on a deal. Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer reported the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and Las Vegas Raiders are all potentially interested, which makes sense given their uncertain quarterback situations.
While other veterans such as Aaron Rodgers and Kirk Cousins switching teams in the latter portions of their career didn't exactly work out as planned for the teams, Stafford's situation is different because he is not coming off a major injury.
He also helped lead the Rams to the playoffs last season and in three of his four years with the club. He could be a capable stopgap quarterback who could elevate a number of teams into realistic postseason contention during the 2025 campaign.
