Kerr Says Jimmy Butler Gives Warriors 'Swagger'; Draymond Says He Was 'Missing Piece'
The Golden State Warriors have thrived since acquiring Jimmy Butler ahead of the NBA trade deadline, going 5-1 in his appearances with the team. And the Dubs have noticed a difference since his addition.
"Jimmy gives us some swagger," Steve Kerr told Marcus Thompson II and Sam Amick of The Athletic.
Draymond Green, meanwhile, said that Butler's addition was the impetus to make his championship guarantee during All-Star Weekend.
"I just know what it looks like," Green told The Athletic regarding his championship proclamation. "This team all year has been kind of like, 'Man, we're right there, but can't quite get over the hump.' But there's a reason that you feel like you're right there, but can't quite get over. And the reason I think we all thought we couldn't quite get over was because there was a missing piece. That piece isn't missing anymore. That piece is him."
In his six games with the Dubs, Butler is averaging 20 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.5 steals, shooting 46.7 percent from the field. The Warriors (30-27) still have plenty of work to do to guarantee themselves a spot in the playoffs, but they've looked like a different team with Butler in the mix.
