Report: Draymond Told Warriors to Get Another 'Ass--le' Before Jimmy Butler Trade
Draymond Green reportedly wanted the Golden State Warriors to acquire another player that shared his fiery personality before the team traded for Jimmy Butler.
Marcus Thompson II and Sam Amick of The Athletic revealed that Green had a standing request for the Warriors to get another "ass--le" prior to the Feb. 6 trade deadline.
Golden State eventually acquired Butler in a five-team swap that included the Miami Heat. The Warriors subsequently signed the six-time All-Star to a two-year contract extension worth $121 million.
Green's tendency to occasionally cross the line is well-known, as the former Defensive Player of the Year currently ranks second in the NBA with 11 technical fouls this season.
While Butler may not rack up technical fouls at the same rate as Green, he's showcased his highly competitive nature on several occasions throughout his career.
The 35-year-old's tenure with the Warriors is off to a strong start, with the team owning a 5-1 record in his six appearances. Butler has averaged 20.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game and is shooting 46.7 percent from the field in Golden State.
The Warriors made one of the largest moves in the Association prior to the Feb. 6 trade deadline, and Green's request may have contributed to the deal.
