Report: Zion Williamson Weighs in at 264 Pounds; Lightest Since Pelicans Drafted Star
Zion Williamson has reportedly made major strides in losing weight in recent months.
Per ESPN's Michael Wright, the New Orleans Pelicans star currently weighs 264 pounds, which is the lightest he's weighed since the team drafted him in 2019. Williamson is listed at 284 on NBA.com, meaning he's dropped a significant amount of weight since the start of the season.
Williamson's five-year, $197.2 million extension he signed with New Orleans in 2022 comes with a handful of stipulations that protect the team from injury struggles or failure to maintain his weight. One such condition says that Williamson must keep his combined weight and body fat percentage below 295 to guarantee 20 percent of his salary for the 2025-26 season.

Given the report, he's well on his way to satisfying that condition and ensuring he gets paid.
While Williamson has seemingly done well staying in shape, he has dealt with injuries this year, missing most of November and all of December with a hamstring injury.
Luckily for the Pels and Williamson, he's been on the court somewhat consistently since January and has been playing especially well in February. Over the past seven games, Williamson has averaged 26.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists. He posted a season-high 40 points against the Sacramento Kings just a few weeks ago.
Even with Williamson back on the court, New Orleans hasn't been able to shake its struggles. The Pelicans are sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference at 14-43 and have virtually no chance of making the playoffs.
Still, it's a good sign to see Williamson trending in the right direction because at his best, he is capable of being the No. 1 option on a playoff team.
