Bronny James Scores 24, Impresses NBA Fans in G League Lakers' Win vs. Valley Suns
Bronny James was the second-leading scorer in the South Bay Lakers’ 118-98 victory over the Valley Suns on Saturday night, impressing fans as he shot 63 percent from the field.
With the win, South Bay improved to 6-14 on the season, securing its first victory since Feb. 7—the last game James played in—while the Suns fell to 12-10.
James finished with 24 points, five rebounds and six assists while knocking down 4-of-6 from three-point range. Sir'Jabari Rice led all scorers with 27 points off the bench.
Fans were impressed by James’ stellar performance as he helped his team snap a four-game losing streak.
James’ impressive shooting followed up his last G-League game, a 28-point performance against the Valley Suns on Feb. 7, where he shot 12-of-23 from the field and added six rebounds, two assists and one steal.
James set the tone early on Saturday with a buzzer-beating three-pointer to end the first quarter, giving South Bay a 35-27 lead heading into the second.
His recent surge comes after being deactivated from the Lakers’ main roster and assigned to the G League while Los Angeles traveled to Denver. James last appeared in an NBA game during the Lakers’ 131-119 loss to the Nuggets, finishing with nine points and one assist in eight minutes.
South Bay will look to build on its momentum next Friday when it faces the Salt Lake City Stars on the road.
