76ers Trolled by NBA Fans amid Blowout Loss to Celtics with Embiid, Maxey, PG Playing
In what has become a rare occurrence this season, the Philadelphia 76ers had Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Paul George on the court at the same time on Thursday.
But having their big three playing together didn't matter. The Boston Celtics trounced the 76ers 124-104.
Embiid finished with just 15 points, three rebounds and four assists on 3-of-9 from the field. Maxey had 16 points, seven assists and five boards while George added 17 points.
Celtics star Jayson Tatum tallied just 15 points, though he had 11 boards and 10 assists to secure the triple-double. Jaylen Brown picked up 20 points, six assists and six rebounds. The biggest contributor was Sixth Man of the Year candidate Payton Pritchard, who torched Philadelphia's defense for 28 points off the bench.
After the lousy performance, fans blasted the 76ers for struggling even with their stars on the floor.
The 76ers have been dealing with injuries all year with Embiid playing just his 18th game all season on Thursday. George has been a bit more present, but has still only appeared in 36 games.
With little time on the court together, it's clear the trio of Embiid, Maxey and George has a lot of work to do.
Unfortunately, time is running out as Philadelphia is sitting in 11th place in the East at 20-35. With just 27 games left, the 76ers will need a late-season surge to avoid a playoff absence.
