Jaren Jackson Jr., Evan Mobley Top NBA DPOY 2025 Odds with Wemby Out for Season
There are multiple top contenders for Defensive Player of the Year honors after San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama was ruled out for the rest of the 2024-25 season.
Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. currently has the best odds to win the award at -125 (bet $125 to win $100), per FanDuel Sportsbook. Evan Mobley of the Cleveland Cavaliers owns the second-best odds at -110.
Oklahoma City Thunder forward Luguentz Dort sits at No. 3 with +1500 odds.
Wemanyama was initially listed as a heavy favorite for the award with -2500 odds before his season came to an end on Thursday due to a blood clot in his right shoulder. The second-year center was averaging a league-leading 3.8 blocks per game.
Jackson will be looking to secure his second Defensive Player of the Year award in three seasons, previously earning the honor for his 2022-23 campaign. In 52 starts with the Grizzlies this season, he's recording 1.3 steals and 1.6 blocks on a nightly basis.
As for Mobley, the fourth-year center earned his first All-Star nod and has served as a versatile defensive piece of a Cavaliers team that's tied for the best record in the NBA at 44-10.
Over Mobley's past 10 appearances, he's averaged 2.1 blocks to go along with 0.6 steals per game. Cleveland owns an impressive 8-2 record over that span.
With Wembanyama no longer eligible, the Defensive Player of the Year award is shaping up to be a two-man race between Jackson and Mobley.
