Kevin Durant: Victor Wembanyama 'On the Right Path' to Becoming One of the Best Ever
Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant told reporters that San Antonio Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama is "on the right path" to being one of the greatest basketball players ever seen, as relayed by Tom Petrini of Silver & Black Coffee Hour.
"I don't think anything's missing. I just think he need to experience more in the NBA. It's still early for him, the second year. He's yet to be in the playoffs, which is an eye-opening experience for every player, especially his caliber," KD's remarks began.

"He'll learn a lot about himself and his team in that situation. I just think he's on the right path to being one of the greatest we ever seen and it's just about, you know, going through those experiences in real time and learning from them to get better, so I mean, he's on the right track."
Durant made his remarks Wednesday, one day before his Suns will visit the Spurs to kick off the second half of their respective NBA seasons.
In his second NBA season, Wembanyama is averaging 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds and an NBA-high 3.8 blocks. The reigning Rookie of the Year also just made his first All-Star Game.
San Antonio has also enjoyed much improvement year-to-year. After going 22-60 last year, the Spurs are 23-29 this season. San Antonio sits 12th in the Western Conference but just two games back in the loss column for the final play-in spot.
Wembanyama has been the centerpiece of that improvement, and now he and the Spurs, who just added Sacramento Kings superstar De'Aaron Fox via trade, are now shooting for the playoffs.
A win against the 11th-place Suns would be a good start. Tipoff is set for 9:30 p.m. ET in San Antonio's Frost Bank Center.
