Video: Jimmy Butler Called 'a Crybaby' by Warriors, Heat Legend Tim Hardaway Sr.

Star forward Jimmy Butler's antics that forced the Miami Heat to trade him to the Golden State Warriors didn't sit right with a legend who suited up for both franchises.

Tim Hardaway Sr. had some choice words for Butler during an appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio with Frank Isola and Justin Termine.

"I didn't agree with what he was doing. You're under contract. You a baby, you a crybaby because they said no to you," Hardaway said of Butler. "We used to get said no to us all the time and we used to know how to take it. It is what it is. It's a question. You get a yes or a no. You might not like the [answer], but you can't deviate and mess up the team."

Butler was suspended by the Heat three times in the month of January alone for conduct that was deemed to be detrimental to the team. After weeks of turmoil, he was ultimately sent to the Warriors at the Feb. 6 trade deadline as part of a five-team deal.

While the 35-year-old was once considered the face of Miami after leading the team to two NBA Finals appearances in 2020 and 2023, Hardaway also criticized the franchise for giving him too much leeway over the years that set the stage for his off-the-court tumult this season.

"I fault them for letting him get away with a bunch of stuff, too. You gotta nip it in the bud," Hardaway said.

Butler appears to be re-energized with his new team, as he's averaged 21.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.3 steals across four games with the Warriors. Golden State (28-27) will return from the All-Star break on Friday in a road matchup against the Sacramento Kings (28-27).
