Anthony Edwards Says Groin Prevented Him from Playing in 2025 NBA All-Star Game
Anthony Edwards revealed that a groin injury kept him sidelined from the 2025 All-Star Game on Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Times' Dan Woike.
The Minnesota Timberwolves star was selected to Kenny Smith's team for Sunday's game.
Edwards was Kenny’s No. 1 overall pick in the All-Star draft and was set to play alongside Jalen Brunson, Darius Garland, Tyler Herro and others.
The 23-year-old played in the Timberwolves' final game before the All-Star break, defeating the red-hot Oklahoma City Thunder 116-101. He finished with 23 points, seven assists, seven blocks and three steals in the win.
Following Team Kenny's 41-32 loss to Team Chuck, Edwards said he might have tried to play had the warmups been longer, but he did not have enough time to test the injury, per The Athletic's Tim Reynolds.
"My groin's been messed up for a little minute," Edwards said.
In Edwards' first All-Star Game in 2023, he posted 12 points, four rebounds and one assist while shooting 75 percent from the field. Last year, he finished with four points in 13 minutes.
Despite missing the All-Star Game, Edwards hopes to avoid missing any time with the Timberwolves.
Minnesota will be back in action Friday against the Houston Rockets.
