Report: Justin Reid Agrees to $31.5M Saints Contract; Won 2 Super Bowls With Chiefs
Justin Reid has a new home.
The veteran safety and New Orleans Saints reportedly agreed to a three-year, $31.5 million contract on Tuesday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, including $22.2 million in fully-guaranteed money.
Reid, 28, spent the past three seasons with the Chiefs, winning two Super Bowl titles in that time. He averaged 88.3 tackles, one interception, 1.3 sacks, three tackles for loss and 7.6 passes defensed per season with the Chiefs, providing solid cover in the secondary for a defense that has grown into one of the NFL's best.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
While he was never going to get Xavier McKinney-esque money on the open market, he was always expected to garner strong offers, and it was unclear if the Chiefs would be able to pay up to keep him.
Reid was hoping to return, however.
"Today didn't go our way but I'm proud of what we were able to accomplish this year and the last three years together," he wrote on social media in February. "I love Kansas City. I pray this isn't the end but if it isโI just want to say that I love and appreciate every single one of you that welcomed me and supported my family here. You are in my heart forever."
Ultimately, New Orleans was able to swoop in, offering him a contract offer that tempted him away from the defending AFC champions. They'll now pair him with veteran star Tyrann Mathieu, who reworked his deal to stay with the Saints. It's a solid one-two punch at safety for New Orleans as they try to return to contention in the NFC South.
