Anthony Edwards, Naz Reid Applauded By NBA Fans as T-Wolves Beat SGA, Thunder
Despite being without Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle on Thursday, the Minnesota Timberwolves handled the best team in the Western Conference with ease.
The Wolves downed the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-101 thanks to an outstanding effort from Minnesota's role players.
Anthony Edwards finished with 23 points, seven assists and eight boards, but struggled for much of the night, shooting 5-of-18 from the field and 3-of-12 from deep. Luckily, Naz Reid stepped up for a career performance as the reigning Sixth Man of the Year put up 27 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.
Jaden McDaniels added 21 points, five assists and six boards while Nickeil Alexander-Walker posted 14 points.
Though MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander put together a solid game with 24 points, nine assists and eight rebounds, the Timberwolves frustrated him all night as he shot an inefficient 6-of-21 from the field.
After a strong performance against an NBA Finals contender, fans praised Minnesota as a unit and Reid for carrying the weight.
Though the Wolves came out on top, the Thunder are still the frontrunner in the West as they remain in the top spot at 44-10. Minnesota is slowly but surely separating itself from the play-in tournament, but is still in seventh place in the Western Conference at 31-25 heading into the All-Star break.
