Jayson Tatum, Celtics Applauded by NBA Fans in Win vs. Wemby, Spurs with Brown Out
Jayson Tatum posted 32 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists en route to leading the Boston Celtics to a 116-103 home win over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.
Tatum scored 17 points in the first half and 15 more in the second half in a game that the C's led by as many 24 points before settling for the 13-point victory.
It was another great night for Tatum, who's been on a torrid three-game stretch.
He led the Celtics' dominant performance on the boards, where Boston out-rebounded San Antonio 69-43. The Celtics also made twice as many three-pointers (18-9).
Boston enjoyed a deep scoring attack with six or more players posting double digits. Kristaps Porziņģis added 29 points, while Derrick White added 19.
It was an impressive victory for the Tatum-led Celtics considering that four-time All-Star Jaylen Brown sat due to right knee soreness and two-time All-Star Jrue Holiday was sidelined with a right shoulder impingement.
For the Spurs, De'Aaron Fox led the way with 23 points, while Victor Wembanyama added 17 points and 13 rebounds. Rookie Stephon Castle added 20 points off the bench.
Boston has now won seven of eight games to move to 39-16, good enough for second place in the Eastern Conference behind the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The vibes are great right now in Boston, and fans and analysts praised Tatum and the team after a solid performance.
Wednesday marked Boston's final game before the All-Star break. The Celtics will open the second half of the year on Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Philadelphia 76ers.
