Cooper Flagg to Wizards, Dylan Harper to Pelicans in ESPN's 2025 NBA Mock Draft
The 2025 NBA draft is chock full of talented young players, giving teams at the top of the order the opportunity to add future stars.
ESPN's Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo revealed their latest 2025 mock draft on Wednesday and predicted that a pair of star freshmen would be selected early, with Duke star forward Cooper Flagg going No. 1 overall to the Washington Wizards followed by Rutgers star guard Dylan Harper being chosen at No. 2 by the New Orleans Pelicans.
Here are the top 10 picks in Givony and Woo's mock draft:
Washington Wizards: Cooper Flagg, SF/PF, Duke
New Orleans Pelicans: Dylan Harper, SG/PG, Rutgers
Utah Jazz: Ace Bailey, SG/SF, Rutgers
Charlotte Hornets: VJ Edgecombe, SG, Baylor
Toronto Raptors: Kasparas Jakucionis, PG, Illinois
Brooklyn Nets: Kon Knueppel, SG/SF, Duke
Chicago Bulls, Khaman Maluach, C, Duke
Portland Trail Blazers, Egor Demin, PG/SG, BYU
San Antonio Spurs, Jeremiah Fears, PG, Oklahoma
Oklahoma City Thunder (via Philadelphia), Derik Queen, C, Maryland
The Wizards have the worst record in the NBA at 9-44 and will miss the playoffs for the fourth straight year. Adding Flagg would give Washington an instant difference-maker who can impact both ends of the floor in a variety of ways.
"The Wizards were active during last week's trade deadline, using their flexibility to take on salary and add to their growing stockpile of draft picks. Those decisions won't change their calculus picking near the top of the lottery," Givony explained. "Flagg would be a tone-setting player around whom Washington could center its rebuild, and his growth in the shot-creation department has to be interesting to the Wizards, given the need for a playmaker to lead the team."
Harper, who plays alongside another star freshman in Scarlet Knights forward Ace Bailey, shot up draft boards thanks to his impressive start to the 2024-25 season. While he's recently had a tough stretch in which he battled the flu and an ankle injury, he would be a game-changer for a Pelicans team that ranks last in the Western Conference with a 12-41 record.
"Quality shot creation on the perimeter remains a major need," Woo said of the Pelicans. "Harper's mix of size, playmaking chops and star power could address many of the issues here at once and bolster the rotation on a roster that is trying to compete while still skewing young."
