
UK Back Pages: Manchester United Shopping Robin van Persie in Secret?
The transfer window officially opened on Wednesday, so silly season kicked off with a bizarre rumour.
Mirror Sport relayed a strange rumour that injury-hit Manchester United frontman Robin van Persie was being shopped by the club's brass...without the Dutchman's knowledge.

Sun Sport expanded on the Van Persie rumour some, saying that Turkish side Besiktas are pursuing Van Persie. It also relayed words from new Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech, who said he will play until he's 40 (along with some interesting Photoshop imagery).

Meanwhile, Star Sport reported that a day after Leicester City surprisingly sacked manager Nigel Pearson, they now hoping to lure former Celtic boss Neil Lennon to take the reins of the Foxes.
