Brandan Wright to Grizzlies: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
Brandan Wright didn't take long to find a new home, as the veteran forward has agreed to terms with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported Wright's deal:
Wright made the deal official on July 9 once the free-agent moratorium ended.
Wright spent the 2014-15 season making his way around the United States, starting the year with the Dallas Mavericks before being traded to the Boston Celtics in December as part of the Rajon Rondo deal and then moved to Phoenix in January.
As a result, Wright took this opportunity to go home, as he grew up in Nashville and played high school basketball in Tennessee.
Wojnarowski noted the chance to play in Tennessee was one of the big selling points for Wright:
The 27-year-old has been a valuable backup in his career, averaging 7.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game while playing less than 17 minutes. He's a high-efficiency scorer, never shooting worse than 51.3 percent from the floor.
The Grizzlies have been on the cusp of greatness for a long time, making the playoffs five consecutive seasons and winning at least one series three times. They don't need to make big changes to their roster as long as Marc Gasol returns, so a player like Wright gives head coach David Joerger more depth to play with.
