Brazil will be without their talismanic captain Neymar, whose attempted headbutt of Colombia's Jeison Murillo saw him banned for four games, per BBC Sport.
The Brazilian's disciplinary record has come under scrutiny in the wake of his suspension, and the numbers speak for themselves, as Bleacher Report noted on Twitter:
The Selecao crumpled without the 23-year-old at the World Cup last year, succumbing to an infamous 7-1 defeat at the hands of Germany.
Nevertheless, Willian played down fears that a repeat performance could be on the cards. Per Goal.com's Kris Voakes, he said: "There isn’t really any difference in our manner. With or without Neymar, I will try to play my best football."
Willian helped his side to victory over Venezuela, and as football writer Rik Sharma noted, emerged as a key figure for the Selecao:
Paraguay eliminated Brazil in a penalty shootout at the quarter-final stage in the last Copa America, and Willian is confident his team can progress. Per Voakes' report, he said:
"Paraguay are competitive opponents and it will be a fight for the full 90 minutes. But as a national team we know well how to play against these sides.
In the last Copa America we were eliminated by Paraguay, but I hope it can be different this time. Hopefully we can play the game the way we like, with joy and responsibility and can eliminate a tricky opponent.
"
Paraguay will indeed prove a tricky opponent, as they have emerged as something of a surprise package at the tournament.
La Albirroja earned highly credible draws with Argentina and Uruguay in the group stage, as well as beating Jamaica.
Key to their progression has been Lucas Barrios' form. The 30-year-old has scored twice in three games, and he caught the eye of beIN sports broadcaster Andres Cordero:
The experienced striker will be Paraguay's main threat to Brazil, and his aerial power and clever movement in the box can cause Dunga's men some problems.
However, Brazil have shown they can cope without Neymar, and the likes of Willian will relish the freedom his absence allows them.
To have any chance of redemption from the humiliation they suffered last year, Brazil need to win this game.
Even without the 23-year-old, there remains plenty of quality in the Selecao side, and they can overcome a spirited Paraguay here.
Prediction: Brazil 2-1 Paraguay
